
Deseret bookshops owned by the Churh of Jesus of Latter Day Saints have removed Meyer's Vampire teamed books from their shelves.
No reason has been give for the withdrawal of the Twilight novel and it's sequels.
Stephanie Meyer is reported by The Salt lake Tribune as a member of the Church.

I also read on the internet that there was a rumour about a law suit (well only a rumour as the facts could not be authenticated) regarding the original idea of the Twilight.
My opinion is that books especially novels should carry classification logos like movies, hence each seller can be known for what categories they sell and authors can decide how graphical or down-to-earth they want to be.
